Chemical Compability

A good starting point for addressing chemical compatability is found at http://www.coleparmer.com/techinfo/ChemComp.asp

We cannot provide firm advice on issues of chemical compatability, however can provide general guidance. First advice is if the product is not packed in a plastic container, it probably suggests the product is incompatible with plastic. If the product is solvent based, be careful what tap or valve is used and also ensure that the seals are compatible. Valves with teflon seats or viton seals are typically recommended for many solvents.

Also beware that some liquids which we would not normally expect will cause problems can. For example, olive oil is a particulary invasive products, and when packed in IBC's requires teflon or viton seals.

European (Buttress threads

We are frequently encounter references to European threads on IBC's and other smaller containers which cause confusion. In the past we often came accross the term "NW 50". This terms just means "Nennwert 50" which means nominally 50mm or 2". Therefore the 60mm x 6 thread frequently found on European designed containers and many IBC's made throughout the World may be referred to as NW50. However you may also encounter the term "Din 61" which is the reference to the same thread as complying with the German Industry Standard thread configuration. In more recent years, the same thread has frequently been simply referred to a "S60 x 6".
